The Qing/ Manchu Dynasty
In 1644 the Ming Dynasty was failing, and during its defeat a new dynasty was being formed, the Qing Dynasty. In 1911 the final dynasty of the Chinese empire, the Qing/Manchu, was terminated. The empire was rated the 5th biggest empire in history. Over time China began to grow weaker, one of the main effects was when Britain defeated China and took over Hong-Hong. After this defeat the once-powerful China was revealed as weak and vulnerable. Countries saw their chance and started capturing land and taking it from China, for example France took Southeast Asia, and Japan seized Taiwan. The empire was slowly decaying, causing people and peasants to rebel against China. In 1900, foreign countries formed an alliance called "spheres of influence" made up of Britain, Russia, Germany, France, and Japan. The Qing army and the peasants finally united, but they couldn't possibly defeat the foreign powers. In 1911 the Chinese Revolution sprung out, led by Sun Yat-sen, and brought forth the downfall of the Qing Dynasty. Some more issues that caused its downfall were the new Emperor, Railway Protection Movement and the Wuchang Uprising. The Wuchang Uprising was the cause of the Republic of China. The uprising was caused by accident, when bombs were being made, one accidently went off and names of people who were Literary Social members in the New Army, the army that controlled the Qing Dynasty. Soon many assemblies started claiming independence from the Qing Dynasty, revolutionaries eventually formed a government and then created the ROC, with the end of the Qing Dynasty. In 1908 the Empress of China passed away leaving the throne to the two-year old Emperor Puyi. Since the country had no commander, she headed toward disaster, promoting the downfall of the Qing Dynasty.
